Unmentioned during the pre-taped interviews with Warren Buffett, Bill and Melinda Gates, Ted Turner and Tom Steyer revolving around their participation in “The Giving Pledge” – the promise to give away at least half their wealth: how they are free now to give all the money they want to the federal government. Amanpour began by touting: “Warren Buffett has been practically begging the country, begging Congress to tax him more. In fact, many of the richest Americans like Buffett, Bill and Melinda Gates and Ted Turner say that they should pay higher tax.” In between letting Buffett expound at length on why taxes should be hiked, she fretted to Bill Gates: “If people aren't going to pay for the services that they need, how are those services going to get funded, do you think?”

Later, she showcased Tom Steyer, founder of the San Francisco-based Farallon Capital Management hedge fund and, like Buffett, a big donor to Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign when Steyer gave over $100,000 to Democrats, a fact Amanpour ignored which makes his support for higher taxes a lot less surprising and hardly noteworthy. “You said that you would be willing to have your taxes higher,” she cued him up. If you remember, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck accuse We Won't Fly founders Jim Babb and George Donnelly of planning an terrorist act and say they should be on a watchlist.



However, if you read the article below, I wonder if these women would like to be the first to expose themselves to that. I'm shocked and very disappointed with Elizabeth Hasselbeck's so-called "conservative" viewpoint especially when it comes to TSA regulations and their blatant attack on our fourth amendment rights. It appears that Hasselbeck isn't as conservative as she wants us to believe.

My opinion on this is simple: Janet Napolitano said "there will be adjustments" & "more to come." Excuse me, but I can't help but think the answer will be "No airport security checks for Muslim women." Obviously, she and TSA are stonewalling and giving us the same rhetorical responses as GW Bush did with the Patriot Act. And for her to also say that we have "collective role" is just another way of saying "America, you MUST give up your 4th Amendment rights in exchange for your security." Brown shirts did the same thing in Nazi Germany during WWII.

I saw this photo on twitter this morning, and had to share it with everyone. NO, it's not true - Obama isn't really blaming Twitter for Tuesday's major loss in the House of Representatives. This is just a reminder of all the Bush blame games Obama has been playing for the past two years.

A story you will not see on ABC, MSNBC or CBS

Once again, I am amazed at how this story was passed over and/or ignored by the mainstream media. A young Seattle police officer was shot and killed while his rookie trainee was wounded in a drive-by shooting in a quiet neighborhood. In the days and months ahead, people in the vicinity decided to gather together and form something like a support group. During that time, they decided to build a monument in memory of the police officer.



I guess my point on this is simple: These people didn't have to rely on 'government' to make this choice. Yes, there probably was local ordinances they had to adhere to regarding the specifications of the monument, but the point is, no government money was used. Small businesses donated materials and their time, and less than $10,000 was donated (20 percent came from neighbors) by the Seattle police and firefighters. It was truly a grass-roots idea with the blessing of the widow of the fallen officer. Isn't that amazing?



My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the fallen officer, his trainee, and the people of the neighborhood where this took place. God bless them!

Inspired by the black mourning bands police wear across their badges when an officer is killed, Brenton's memorial features a police badge, carved from two pieces of Norwegian blue-pearl granite, that sits atop a strip of polished black granite from India. Radiating out from the badge, words chosen by the Brenton family to describe him — like "brave" and "compassionate" — are engraved on slats of flame-finished granite from China.

"I think of the words on the slats as a foundation that support the shield. Those words kind of made him the police officer he was," said Robert Cipollone, an interior designer who lives down the street from where Brenton died and who helped spearhead the memorial project.

For the neighborhood, coming together to organize a memorial for Brenton was a way to channel grief and helplessness into something positive, said Cipollone, one of four members of the neighborhood's memorial committee.

Early on, Ferguson Construction offered to foot the entire $25,000 bill for the memorial, but neighbors turned the offer down. They wanted the memorial to be a grass-roots-community effort in which "anybody who wanted to be part of this could be," Cipollone said.

Neighborhood businesses joined the effort, and Quiring Monuments, a Seattle company, donated 1,200 pounds of granite and the labor to install the monument. Seattle police and firefighters donated $8,200, but roughly 20 percent of the money came from neighbors living within six blocks of the shooting scene, Cipollone said.

Soon after the shooting, Cipollone and his partner, Bob Peyton, took fliers door to door, inviting neighbors — many of whom they'd never met — into their home. Two weeks after Brenton's slaying, about 35 people crowded into their living room. A week later, another 30 came to talk through their shock and shaken sense of security. Although they are allowed by law to investigate any and all voting irregularities in elections, progressives are poor losers. They took quite a beating last night, and they can't handle it. Democrats Already Taking Legal Action

Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, says the DSCC is already taking legal action in some areas across the country. In Bridgeport, Ct., Democrats are looking for an hour-long extension in that precinct since polling stations ran out of ballots. According to the Connecticut Mirror, the registrars of voters sent police officers with photocopied ballots to the stations, but some voters left without voting. Photocopied ballots can be used in an emergency, but they must be counted by hand. And in Illinois, the DSCC has filed Freedom Of Information Act requests to take a look at provisional ballots. According to Illinois law, if a voter requests an absentee ballot and does not use it, they are allowed to go and vote by provisional ballot. However, according to Menendez some were turned away.
