My Thoughts and Prayers with the Edwards Family

As we have heard, Elizabeth Edwards passed away this week after a long battle with cancer. I'd like to weigh in on how the general public feels and add my own thoughts.

As for John, let me give an example of how I understand what he is going through. My parents were divorced when I was very young. My father was an alcoholic and what they used to call a "womanizer." In other words, he used to chase women. I didn't see my father very much when I was little, but when I did, he had to adhere to rules set up by my mother. Most of the time, it was his children who made the request to see him.

Five years after my father sobered up, lived a clean, honorable life and regained the trust of four of his children, he died unexpectedly. Although my parents never re-married each other, they became good friends, and we included my father's second wife as a part of the family. I was supposed to move in with him after I graduated from high school.

How did my father's death affect my mother? She was understandably devastated. She lost a good friend and the father of her children. It took her a long time to cope with the loss, but her faith in God and the support of our church family and relatives got her through those times. Even my maternal grandparents learned to forgive my father for all the pain he had caused our family.

We all know about the sordid affair that John Edwards had and that it resulted in the birth of a child. There's no need to re-hash it or bring it up, especially now. Doesn't anyone have compassion and forgiveness anymore? It sure doesn't seem that way! I have seen tweets and facebook posts specifically about John since the day Elizabeth passed away that are too vulgar and cruel to repeat. To them I say, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!" Doesn't anyone believe that John has the right to grieve his wife's death? I certainly do! He and Elizabeth may have been estranged, but she didn't keep him from seeing their children. I read that John was living in their house for the past few months but had a separate bedroom. They never divorced.

In the video below, John Moylan, a close friend and Edwards' advisor was interviewed by CBS the other day. Here's what he had to say:

Did anyone notice the answer given by Moylan in reference to the guardianship/custody of the two younger children? I noticed that he gave an excellent answer, because now is not the time to discuss that issue. Right now, the focus is getting all of them, including John, through each day, especially now that their mother is going to be laid to rest today. We need to show compassion for all of the Edwards family, including John. Put your hatred aside for once and pray for him, too!

Hmm ... the uber wealthy want to be taxed more? Yeah right! #tcot #ocra #sgp #twisters #teaparty

I have an answer for them: Just don't claim so much on your taxes. No one is forcing you to claim your deductions, You only do it because -- Surprise! -- it reduces your tax liability!

Oh, but you wouldn't want to do that, because it's too hard to give up the luxury items you worked so hard for, like a private jet, huge mansions, overseas properties, yachts ... shall I go on? Just keep preaching your lies - we're on to you!

My point is - The interviews Christiane did with Gates, Buffet, et al had nothing to do with taxing *them* more - it's really about hitting the middle class with higher rates.

ABC’s Amanpour Trumpets ‘Tax Us More’ Liberal Democratic Quartet

At a time when the American mood has turned against excessive government spending, Christiane Amanpour devoted Sunday’s This Week to four liberal Democratic billionaires, though she failed to identify their political orientation, who want higher income tax rates on the wealthy.

Unmentioned during the pre-taped interviews with Warren Buffett, Bill and Melinda Gates, Ted Turner and Tom Steyer revolving around their participation in “The Giving Pledge” – the promise to give away at least half their wealth: how they are free now to give all the money they want to the federal government.

Amanpour began by touting: “Warren Buffett has been practically begging the country, begging Congress to tax him more. In fact, many of the richest Americans like Buffett, Bill and Melinda Gates and Ted Turner say that they should pay higher tax.” In between letting Buffett expound at length on why taxes should be hiked, she fretted to Bill Gates: “If people aren't going to pay for the services that they need, how are those services going to get funded, do you think?”

Later, she showcased Tom Steyer, founder of the San Francisco-based Farallon Capital Management hedge fund and, like Buffett, a big donor to Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign when Steyer gave over $100,000 to Democrats, a fact Amanpour ignored which makes his support for higher taxes a lot less surprising and hardly noteworthy. “You said that you would be willing to have your taxes higher,” she cued him up.

Another example of TSA sexual abuse #TSA #patdowns #sexualabuse #TheView #ElizabethHasselbeck

At the moment, I am thinking of the comment made by Elizabeth Hasselbeck on the episode of The View that aired the day after Thanksgiving. If you remember, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck accuse We Won't Fly founders Jim Babb and George Donnelly of planning an terrorist act and say they should be on a watchlist.

However, if you read the article below, I wonder if these women would like to be the first to expose themselves to that. I'm shocked and very disappointed with Elizabeth Hasselbeck's so-called "conservative" viewpoint especially when it comes to TSA regulations and their blatant attack on our fourth amendment rights. It appears that Hasselbeck isn't as conservative as she wants us to believe.

So, Ms. Hasselbeck - if I may quote Benjamin Franklin: “They who give up liberty to obtain safety deserve neither.”

I wonder if these ladies would like to be exposed to the same type of "pat-down" sexual assault during their menstrual cycle. Actually, I doubt they would have to worry about it, considering they probably get "free" flights on private jets most of the time. So, maybe they'd also be exempt from this assault. As Benjamin Franklin said, “They who give up liberty to obtain safety deserve neither.”

Napolitano did *not* answer the question abt Muslim women & full-body pat-downs #TSA #HHS #tcot #privacy

My opinion on this is simple: Janet Napolitano said "there will be adjustments" & "more to come." Excuse me, but I can't help but think the answer will be "No airport security checks for Muslim women." Obviously, she and TSA are stonewalling and giving us the same rhetorical responses as GW Bush did with the Patriot Act. And for her to also say that we have "collective role" is just another way of saying "America, you MUST give up your 4th Amendment rights in exchange for your security." Brown shirts did the same thing in Nazi Germany during WWII.

So, for those of you who are in total favor of this monstrosity, let me remind you by quoting Benjamin Franklin who said, "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Napolitano: ‘Adjustments,’ ‘More to Come’ on Women in Hijabs Undergoing Airport Full-Body Pat-Downs

(CNSNews.com) - When asked today if she will insist that Muslim women wearing hijabs must go through full body pat downs before boarding planes, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano did not say yes or no, but told CNSNews.com there will be “adjustments” and “more to come” on the issue.

“On the pat downs, CAIR [the Council on American-Islamic Relations] has recommended that Muslim women wearing hijabs refuse to go through the full body pat downs before boarding planes,” CNSNews.com asked Napolitano at a Monday press conference. “Will you insist that they do go through full body pat downs before boarding planes?”

Isn't this a form of Fascism? #tcot #twisters #MSNBC

PMSNBC's Ed Schultz is hurling false accusations against Rush Limbaugh of racist comments about Congressman Clyburn, & calling for a "Decency" law that says, "You can't make racist comments on radio and/or TV." At the same time, Schultz calls Limbaugh "the Drugster." I guess freedom of speech only applies to Liberals, or anyone who supports the progressive movement to destroy the US Constitution. What he is calling for is a form of Fascism. Although his personal belief system turns my stomach, he has the right to think what he wants. But why do I get the feeling that he just might get what he's asking for?

Maybe it's time to start a boycott against MSNBC and all the rest of the "Lame Stream" media.

I saw this photo on twitter this morning, and had to share it with everyone. NO, it's not true - Obama isn't really blaming Twitter for Tuesday's major loss in the House of Representatives. This is just a reminder of all the Bush blame games Obama has been playing for the past two years.

The caption says: "Dear Rahm, we would have retained the House if it wasn't for those freaking patriots on Twitter."

A story you will not see on ABC, MSNBC or CBS

Once again, I am amazed at how this story was passed over and/or ignored by the mainstream media. A young Seattle police officer was shot and killed while his rookie trainee was wounded in a drive-by shooting in a quiet neighborhood. In the days and months ahead, people in the vicinity decided to gather together and form something like a support group. During that time, they decided to build a monument in memory of the police officer.

I guess my point on this is simple: These people didn't have to rely on 'government' to make this choice. Yes, there probably was local ordinances they had to adhere to regarding the specifications of the monument, but the point is, no government money was used. Small businesses donated materials and their time, and less than $10,000 was donated (20 percent came from neighbors) by the Seattle police and firefighters. It was truly a grass-roots idea with the blessing of the widow of the fallen officer. Isn't that amazing?

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the fallen officer, his trainee, and the people of the neighborhood where this took place. God bless them!

Neighborhood project gives a home to memory of slain officer

Inspired by the black mourning bands police wear across their badges when an officer is killed, Brenton's memorial features a police badge, carved from two pieces of Norwegian blue-pearl granite, that sits atop a strip of polished black granite from India. Radiating out from the badge, words chosen by the Brenton family to describe him — like "brave" and "compassionate" — are engraved on slats of flame-finished granite from China.

"I think of the words on the slats as a foundation that support the shield. Those words kind of made him the police officer he was," said Robert Cipollone, an interior designer who lives down the street from where Brenton died and who helped spearhead the memorial project.

For the neighborhood, coming together to organize a memorial for Brenton was a way to channel grief and helplessness into something positive, said Cipollone, one of four members of the neighborhood's memorial committee.

Early on, Ferguson Construction offered to foot the entire $25,000 bill for the memorial, but neighbors turned the offer down. They wanted the memorial to be a grass-roots-community effort in which "anybody who wanted to be part of this could be," Cipollone said.

Neighborhood businesses joined the effort, and Quiring Monuments, a Seattle company, donated 1,200 pounds of granite and the labor to install the monument. Seattle police and firefighters donated $8,200, but roughly 20 percent of the money came from neighbors living within six blocks of the shooting scene, Cipollone said.

Soon after the shooting, Cipollone and his partner, Bob Peyton, took fliers door to door, inviting neighbors — many of whom they'd never met — into their home. Two weeks after Brenton's slaying, about 35 people crowded into their living room. A week later, another 30 came to talk through their shock and shaken sense of security.

While we celebrate Alan Grayson’s loss, he blames the weather

Idiot extraordinaire Rep. Alan Grayson, who held idiotic grudges, called his republican opponent in Florida’s 8th district, republican Daniel Webster, Taliban Dan in one of the most disgusting ads I’ve seen this political season. You have to laugh at the absurdity of this:

He claimed republicans want sick people to die because of their opposition to Obamacare, the republicans want to starve children, and that Dick Cheney has “blood dripping from his teeth“. The guy is unhinged and really, how can someone so unstable represent anyone in congress?

Finally, Grayson lost his congressional seat yesterday. Webster defeated Grayson with 56 percent of the vote to Grayson’s 38 percent. Instead of conceding defeat because he is such a massive fail, the dope blamed the weather for his loss!

Desperate #Dems grasping at straws?

Although they are allowed by law to investigate any and all voting irregularities in elections, progressives are poor losers. They took quite a beating last night, and they can't handle it. This is all part of the game they've been playing since the Bush/Gore debacle in 2000. Now it's Connecticut and Illinois' (Obama's 'home' state) turn to cry over the possibility of a major loss in the Congressional race. Sorry, people, but life isn't fair! Get over it!

However, in their defense, I encourage them to do their best to find the alleged dozen votes or so that they THINK could have been cast for them. Good luck, or good riddance!

Democrats Already Taking Legal Action

Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, says the DSCC is already taking legal action in some areas across the country.

In Bridgeport, Ct., Democrats are looking for an hour-long extension in that precinct since polling stations ran out of ballots. According to the Connecticut Mirror, the registrars of voters sent police officers with photocopied ballots to the stations, but some voters left without voting. Photocopied ballots can be used in an emergency, but they must be counted by hand.

And in Illinois, the DSCC has filed Freedom Of Information Act requests to take a look at provisional ballots. According to Illinois law, if a voter requests an absentee ballot and does not use it, they are allowed to go and vote by provisional ballot. However, according to Menendez some were turned away.

"In certain counties, those individuals have been stopped from voting, and we want that to be clear that they're allowed to vote and we want their votes to count," Menendez said.

Republicans May Be Poised to End Pelosi's Historic Reign

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected numerous polls predicting a Republican landslide among House candidates and defiantly predicted tonight that Democrats will retain control of the House of Representatives.

"The early returns and overwhelming number of Democrats who are coming out – we're on pace to maintain a majority in the House of Representatives," Pelosi told reporters during a photo op in Washington.

But after polls closed in 24 states, early returns appeared to favor Republicans in competitive districts, signalling Democrats could be in for a bruising night.

Side Effects: Now Even Democrats Are Voicing Concern About Obamacare’s Consequences

Imagine that one day, your boss takes you out to coffee.  You offer to pick up the tip as a contribution. The two of you head down the street and are faced with quite the conundrum: two coffee shops to choose from! Both offer a delicious cup of joe for the same price, but in front of one, a benevolent gentleman who calls himself Uncle Sam (weird, right?) offers you a coupon for 50 percent off, so both you and your boss will save. Which coffee shop do you think your employer would take you to?

This is not a trick question. The scenario described above captures how employers are likely to react to incentives created by Obamacare to dump employer coverage, as Governor Philip Bredesen (D–TN) explained recently in The Wall Street Journal.

Obama Backtracks on 'Enemies' Comment

WASHINGTON -- A day before the pivotal midterm elections, President Obama pulled back from remarks he made last month when he called on Latino voters to punish their "enemies" on Election Day.

In an interview Monday with radio host Michael Baisden, Obama said he should have used the word "opponents" instead of enemies.

Republicans were quick to criticize the president's remarks. House Minority Leader John Boehner was expected to use Obama's words in an election eve speech in Ohio to paint the president as a staunch partisan.

"Sadly, we have a president who uses the word 'enemy' for fellow Americans, fellow citizens. He used it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government," Boehner said, according to prepared remarks released in advance of his speech.

National Football League Backs Reid Over Angle; Invests $340,000 to Save Incumbent Congress

(CNSNews.com) - The National Football League’s political action committee—Gridiron PAC—has weighed in on the hotly contested U.S. Senate election in Nevada that pits conservative Republican challenger Sharron Angle against Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid.

The PAC has given $10,000 to Reid—the maximum it can give in a single election cycle—and no money to Angle, according to Federal Election Commission data compiled by OpenSecrets.org.

The NFL’s PAC also contributed to other incumbent Democratic senators facing viable challengers this year, giving $5,000 to Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas; $5,000 to Russ Feingold of Wisconsin; $5,000 to Barbara Boxer of California; $5,000 to Michael Bennet of Colorado; and $5,000 to Patty Murray of Washington.

In none of these races did the NFL’s PAC contribute to the Republican challenger.

Caution to Tea Party Members

Here's my take on the MoveOn.org protester's accusations of being attacked by tea party members. First of all, she was wrong for forcing her sign in Rand Paul's face. Second, even after she was restrained to the ground by supporters and/or security, the guy who used excessive force with his foot on her shoulder was also out of line. So, I am disgusted with both sides of the aisle!! Tea party members, no matter how frustrated you may be with the left-wing organizations, PLEEEEEASE, use restraint! The last thing conservatives need right now is for our frustrations to cause more violence. Use your head, and think before you react in situations like this. UK Couple Denied Extra "Pregancy" Benefits

I feel bad for this couple in the UK, but if they don't qualify for extra benefits because their child is born too early, the answer is simple: They don't qualify. In defense of the British government, they shouldn't be required to bend the rules for them.

However, it's sad that because of the regulations put on the people of the UK who are on "public assistance,"  no one else can help them with the extras. That extra help would be considered income, and then they lose a portion of what government assistance they already receive. In essence, that's called, "taxing charitable giving." Go figure! Schools ban 'boobies' cancer bracelet ; Think There is a Double Standard?

A $4 rubber bracelet meant to raise breast cancer awareness has done that and more: Students nationwide are wearing the "I (heart) boobies" wristbands, and running afoul of school administrators.

Schools from California to Florida have banned the bracelets because they believe the "boobies" language is inappropriate. Read entire article here.

Inappropriate? Probably so. When I was growing up, the word 'boob' was traditionally a derogatory term for a woman's breast, and not the nicest word to be used in public. So, yes, in defense of the schools, I can understand why they would be concerned because of the broader "inappropriate" usage of the word. Check out the short video here.

However, If the word "boob" or "boobies" and any bracelets with those words on them are banned, then the schools must stop passing out condoms to teens in support of pre-marital teen sex. And parents must be notified before sending their daughters to an abortion clinic if these girls find themselves pregnant because they refuse to use such birth control!

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!

Should Freedom of Speech be Limited? Snyder v Phelps

Yesterday, Glenn Beck and his friend Pat were debating whether or now the Supreme Court should limit freedom of speech in regards to the lawsuit brought by the Snyder family against Pastor Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church. The video below will explain the latest news on the hearing:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Here's the discussion on Glenn's show from October 6, 2010:

Here are my thoughts on this whole ordeal. Yes, I think that what the Westboro congregation is doing and has been doing for many years is despicable! And I wish that this case hadn't gone as far as it has. But, in my opinion, with the two new justices on the bench under Obama's watch, I would be highly surprised if they rule in Westboro's favor, considering the heated debate on homosexuality in general. I still believe that everyone has a right to their opinions and core beliefs. I pray that the judges will keep that in mind as they make their decision. But I'm really afraid that they will take a radical step and ignore the First Amendment. My question is, what will come next ... The Bible being burned because of its content? Would anyone be surprised if the sacred written Word of God ends up being silenced within all churches because of a select few radicals who decided to take the scriptures way out of context?

This is why I strongly disagree with Westboro's tactics since they first went public with their rage. There is a big difference between judgment/condemnation of one's eternal soul and discernment. As Glenn has quoted Martin Luther King, Jr many times, you judge a man by his character; but it is not up to us to condemn anyone to eternal damnation. Ultimately, it's up to God to do that. This is where Westboro went wrong. Protesting is not wrong or illegal in and of itself - but to do so in this manner is insensitive, uncaring, and it puts a really bad name to Christianity as a whole. Honestly, I think Jesus Christ himself would be very sad to see this happening.

Thomas Jefferson on Judges

"To consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions [is] a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy. Our judges are as honest as other men and not more so. They have with others the same passions for party, for power, and the privilege of their corps. Their maxim is boni judicis est ampliare jurisdictionem [good justice is broad jurisdiction], and their power the more dangerous as they are in office for life and not responsible, as the other functionaries are, to the elective control. The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal, knowing that to whatever hands confided, with the corruptions of time and party, its members would become despots. It has more wisely made all the departments co-equal and co-sovereign within themselves.”

Congressman Ron Paul Discusses the Current Economy

For the past year or so, I have been watching Congressman Ron Paul. and the more I get to know his principles, the more I pray that he will make another run for the White House in 2012. His common sense approach to economic recovery and fiscal responsibility is so important to many people in this country. He has stood up against big government unconstitutional intrusion on the private sector for more than 30 years while in "the people's seat," representing his Texas constituents. He has written books such as "End the Fed," which details what needs to be done to shut it down because all it does is control our money supply in order to devalue our dollar. This ultimately destroy the way of life our founding fathers warned us about over 230 years ago. Millions of people know about the unconstitutionality of the FED, the IRS and the personal income tax (thanks to the late Aaron Russo and his documentary film, Freedom to Fascism). I highly recommend that people see this video. You can also purchase it here for personal use if you so desire.

The following videos are what he has entitled "State of the Republic Address." According to his YouTube channel description of the videos, "Congressman Paul speaks on where we are as a nation and where we need to go." You can also visit his State of the Republic Address for the complete text of his speech.
